Shuinan Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Jiaolai Basin. The Shuinan Formation was named by the No 1 Petroleum Exploration Team in 1962. The type locality is in the Shuinan Village of the Laiyang City, Shandong. The key section is in 2 km north to the Shuinan Village of the Laiyang City (120°53’, 36°59').
Lithology and Thickness
The Shuinan Formation is a group of grayish green, dark grey and yellowish green siltstone and shale. It is 200 m – 460 m in thickness.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The formation is conformably overlying the Zhifengshan Fm (Zhifenzhuang Fm) in eastern Shandong, and unconformably overlying the Zibo Gr in western Shandong.
Upper contact
It is conformably underlying the Longwangzhuang Fm.
Regional extent
The Shuinan Formation is wide distributed in Laiyang and Haiyang area of eastern Shandong.
